Born on June 26, 1974, in Houston, Texas, Kuentin Darwin Brown—known to the world as Wood—is a legend deeply rooted in the heart of Houston's rap scene. His journey began early, with a spark ignited in middle school when he turned a poem into a rap and performed it at a talent show at the South Central YMCA in 3rd Ward. That spark would grow into a roaring blaze, shaping his career in hip-hop.

At 15, Wood and his friends formed a local rap group called H2O, which quickly gained attention through performances and the release of their demo. Later, Wood moved to Missouri City, where he joined forces with new collaborators to form the Half Dead Organization. Their music resonated with fans, selling over 30,000 copies.

While thriving in the group, Wood was also crafting his debut solo album, Coming Straight from the Wood. His journey reached new heights when he linked up with DJ Screw and the Screwed Up Click (S.U.C.), alongside legends like Yungstar, Z-Ro, Grace, Big Moe, Big Pokey, Big Hawk, and Al-D. With this collaboration, Wood’s career caught fire, and his presence in the music scene became a roaring blaze.

Wood’s solo albums, Against the Grain and Out of the Woodwork, were milestones in his career, selling over 60,000 copies each. Now, Wood is back with his final solo album, The Greatest That Ever Did It, featuring hit singles like "Sumn Fishy", "Slidin’ Down Scott", and "Pheromones". This album is a must-have for fans and a testament to his legacy.

In addition to his solo projects, Wood’s latest EP, Best Thang Smoking, showcases his versatility in the gangsta rap genre, with tracks like the melodic "Time is Money" and the cosmic jam "Spaceships". Featuring top-notch production from the South’s best, including Sean “Solo” Jemison, Mike “Boogielow” Baker, and Eric “E-Man” Hollis, this project blends past and future sounds into an unforgettable experience.

Wood remains one of Houston’s best-kept secrets and a true X-factor in hip-hop. From the streets of 3rd Ward to the studios of S.U.C., his journey is a testament to resilience, talent, and passion. Wood is, was, and always will be a Houston legend.
